Stock eliminator racer Daryl Bureski and Craig Sullivan a top contender in the Spitzer Race Cars NHRA Top Dragster series were drawn to fill the two “Wild Card” positions for the Moser Sportsman Shootout to be held during the JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals, September 22.
The drawing was held during pre-race ceremonies at NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series North Central Division Finals at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Ky. The event was also the final points race to decide the remaining qualifiers for the inaugural Moser Sportsman Shootout. To be eligible for the drawing racers must have registered online at moserengineering.com and have participated at a minimum of three of the six North Central Division NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events during the 2012 season.
The pairing of Bureski, a two-time national event winner this season with his Stock eliminator Oldsmobile Cutlass and Sullivan’s mid-six second 638 cubic inch nitrous assisted Ford powered Top Dragster is a perfect example of the unique match ups of NHRA Sportsman categories to be seen in the Moser Sportsman Shootout. The shootout will be run with a full-countdown ‘tree on the eighth-mile in a dial-in / breakout race format.
The two “Wild Card” positions complete a sixteen-car ladder consisting of the top two point finishers in Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman. The remaining qualifiers will be announced following verification of the final point standings.
